Echo Link will offer hi-fi music streaming stereo and all Alexa capabilities of the home music system.
Amazon is looking forward to launch Echo Link as early as in April 2019, with price starting from INR 15000. A reliable source has confirmed that Amazon will bring tow devices to the Indian market, probably in the first week of April 2019. Acting as peripheral to Amazon Eco device, the Echo Link will offer hi-fi music streaming stereo. The company has provided multiple analog/digital outputs and inputs so as to bring high-fidelity music streaming and all Alexa capabilities to the home music system.
The report also says Echo Link will include coaxial, RCA, optical, subwoofer out, headphone, 3.5mm jack, and RJ45 Ethernet. To control the volume level, Echo Link is provided with a knob at the front end. It does not have a microphone neither does it support casting via Bluetooth, so it will function as a node between a home speaker and Alexa input. Amazon Echo Link Amp has better features such as a built-in 60W x2-channel amplifier with which user can directly connect high-end stereo system and Echo device.
However, the report does not confirm the availability of Echo Link Amp in India, as it is not even available for purchase in the US right now. If it becomes available, based on its U.S pricing, it will cost around INR 20000. Considering audiophiles in India, the market for Echo Link is quite a niche so it cannot be predicted how such steep priced device will perform. Moreover, two products cannot function without an Eco device, which would have an extra cost. As for now, we only can expect to wait for its launch and see how it fares in the Indian market.
