The new feature will only be available to Android users where they can add photos and descriptions.
Google Maps for Android has received a new useful change to add public events and share those events with other members. Google has updated its support page to provide details about the new feature. The new feature will allow the android users to add public events which will let event managers and businessmen publicize their events without spending an extravagant amount of money on it. When the event is added, it will take around 30 minutes to become live on the Maps while some regions will have a live feature. However, the support page for Google Maps says, this feature may not be available in all regions.
To add an event, first you have to head to Google Maps and then tap on Contribute>Event> Add a public event. Furthermore, you can add the event name, date, time, and tag a location too. There is a feature to add images and the description of the event as well, although some users have found difficulty in adding pictures. You can edit the event even after you save it by clicking onto contribute>events>select your event>edit this event. In fact, you can delete the event with contributing>events>select your event>edit this event> delete this event.
There is no announcement regarding when this feature will be available globally. Also, there is no news when the iPhones will get this feature. According to Google, the purpose behind the Public Events is to make it easier for users to advertise certain events in the targeted crowd. However, its free and easy use can lead to the creation of fake events or even misuse sometimes. There is no news on how Google will keep a track on all these events or whether or not there will be an authentication process.
